What Happens on the First Conversation

Expect a simple, practical chat. The provider will ask about:

• Which windows or which walls are affected
• What you have noticed, and when it started
• The age and style of your home
• Any recent storms, leaks or drafts

Have your photos and notes ready. A short, clear description speeds things up. If the provider needs to see the home, a visit is usually set up. A written quote follows after that.

What to Ask a Provider

Keep this list handy. Good questions protect you from costly mistakes.

• Are you licensed and insured for this work where I live?
• Who will do the installation, you or a subcontractor?
• Will you put the full scope, materials and price in writing?
• What brands and types do you use, such as vinyl siding or energy efficient windows?
• Who handles permits, cleanup and disposal of old materials?
• What warranty comes from the manufacturer, and what comes from your business?
• What is the payment schedule?

Prices vary by job, home and materials. Get more than one written quote if you can, and compare line by line.

You Are in Control

Do ask questions. Do take time to read the quote. Do keep copies of everything. Do not sign anything you do not understand. Do not pay the full amount up front. Do not feel rushed by anyone.

You can say no at any point, with no obligation. If you have a claim open, tell the provider. They can often help document the damage, but check your policy and talk to your insurer.
